Commissioning
What happens during industrial commissioning
From system testing to production ramp-up, here's what it takes to bring new automation online.

Commissioning is where equipment moves from installation to real production.
It's also where small problems need to be found before they become expensive production issues.
From installation to production
Installation → Testing → Startup → Tuning → Validation → Handover
First: verify everything
Before powering up, the team checks:
Mechanical installation
Electrical connections
Control panels
Sensors
Safety circuits
Network connections
Equipment interfaces
Then comes testing
Individual components are tested before the complete system is run.
PLC sequences, HMI screens, drives, sensors, robots, and machine interfaces are checked against the intended operation.
Commissioning is not simply switching the machine on. It's proving that the machine is ready to run.
During startup
Cycle time
Does the process meet the required rate?
Sequence
Does every machine perform the correct action in the correct order?
Safety
Do all safety functions respond as intended?
Quality
Does the finished product meet requirements?
Final handover
A proper handover includes:
Operator training
Maintenance information
Test records
Documentation
Final adjustments
Production sign-off
The takeaway
Good commissioning turns a collection of machines into a stable, production-ready system.
